HIV & AIDS PROGRAMME

HIV & AIDS

Reducing new HIV infections, improving treatment outcomes, and advancing the rights of people living with and affected by HIV across Nakuru County.

OVERVIEW

Our Commitment

FAWS is committed to reducing new HIV infections, improving treatment outcomes, and advancing the rights of people living with and affected by HIV. Our HIV programme combines prevention, treatment support, community empowerment, and rights-based advocacy so that vulnerable populations can access quality, stigma-free health services and lead healthy, productive lives.

Through community-led approaches, we reach adolescents and young people, pregnant and lactating mothers, women living with HIV, and other vulnerable populations with life-saving information, support, and referrals to essential HIV services.

WHAT WE DO

Key Interventions

VTP Support Groups, Dialogues & Outreaches

FAWS facilitates community support-group sessions, dialogues, and outreaches that provide safe spaces for learning, peer support, and linkage to HIV prevention, treatment, and care — reducing stigma and promoting positive health-seeking behaviour.

Targeting Youth, Pregnant & Lactating Mothers

Targeted interventions promoting HIV prevention, treatment adherence, prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), psychosocial support, and access to youth-friendly and maternal health services.

Treatment & Care - Treatment Literacy

We empower individuals with accurate information on HIV treatment, viral load monitoring, adherence, retention in care, and positive living through treatment-literacy sessions and peer support.

Know Your Rights Campaign

Promoting awareness of health and human rights among people living with HIV - addressing stigma, discrimination, confidentiality, informed consent, and equitable access to care.

Community-Led Monitoring (CLM)

Trained peer monitors collect real-time feedback on the quality, accessibility, and responsiveness of HIV services, which we use to engage facilities and stakeholders and strengthen accountability.

OUR IMPACT

By integrating prevention, treatment support, human rights advocacy, and community accountability, FAWS is helping build healthier communities, improve treatment outcomes, strengthen service delivery, and ensure that no one is left behind in the HIV response.
