TUBERCULOSIS (TB) PROGRAMME

Tuberculosis (TB)

Reducing the burden of TB through early detection, treatment, and support — with a strong focus on TB/HIV co-infection.

OVERVIEW

Our Commitment

FAWS is committed to reducing the burden of Tuberculosis (TB) in Nakuru County by promoting early detection, improving access to treatment, and supporting individuals affected by TB to successfully complete treatment. Recognising TB as one of the leading co-infections among people living with HIV, our programme focuses on community awareness, screening, referrals, treatment support, and education.

Through community-based interventions and partnerships with health facilities, FAWS works to strengthen TB prevention and care while reducing stigma and misinformation surrounding the disease.

WHAT WE DO

Key Interventions

TB Screening & Referral Services

Community sensitisation and outreach that encourages people with TB symptoms to seek screening and diagnosis, with timely referrals and linkage to TB care through community health networks and facilities.

TB/HIV Co-infection Education

Integrated education on TB/HIV co-infection that helps communities understand risk factors, prevention, symptoms, and the importance of routine screening — empowering people to seek care early.

Treatment-Completion Follow-Up

Follow-up visits, peer support, treatment literacy, and community-based adherence interventions that reduce interruptions, improve recovery, and prevent drug-resistant TB.

Resource Materials Distribution

Culturally appropriate IEC materials that increase community awareness of TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and available support services.

OUR IMPACT

Through strengthening TB awareness, promoting early diagnosis, supporting treatment adherence, and integrating TB/HIV education, FAWS is helping communities reduce the burden of TB, improve treatment outcomes, and build healthier, more resilient communities across Nakuru County.
